I purchased a membership to a gig driver app called Gridwise on March 7, 2023. I purchased an annual membership for $103.77 with promises made that there would be associated benefits to the app. At the time of purchase, there was a program linked to GasBuddy, LLC, that would give a Gridwise member $0.50 off minimum per gallon of gas for 100 gallons per month. There was no end date on this and there was no notification that this policy would be changing. Gridwise has recently changed this, as of April 12th, and now only offers $0.02 off per gallon through ************* Due to this misleading information, I have an annual membership that no longer serves the purpose that I purchased it for. I never would have purchased this annual membership had I known there was going to be an unannounced change to the program. The $0.50 off per gallon made the value of the membership worth the price. This application is no longer worth the price and I would like to have my money returned in full. I have emailed the company and they offered to give me a $50 gift card. This does not cover the cost of the membership and I asked to obtain a 2nd $50 gift card, and they told me that was not an option and they could not return the money. There was no email or information sent about the change in the gas program before this change occurred and from what I understand, this is a program that falls under false pretenses due to no information being provided that would state this change could occur at random with no warning. I am looking into contacting my bank and calling out regulation E to have my money returned to me due to paying for services under the false pretense that there would be no end to the program that was in place. This program stated that every month I would receive a minimum of $0.50 off per gallon of gas for 100 gallons per month. That equates to $50 per month, maximum and that is substantial to me, who uses their vehicle as a tool for the job.Business response

I signed up for gasbuddy and they sent a card. It didn't work when I tried to use it. I was then told I owed them money. If I didn't pay it then it would be sent to collections. ( they used this to threaten me to get paid instead of looking into my issue properly.) They states that since I wrote down my pin on my paper cover that I keep in my car that I am ineligible for them to not charge me. I have trouble remembering them so I keep all of my pins and passwords written down. I'm not sure if someone looked over my shoulder when I was entering my pin or what not. But the charge didn't work and I guess I left the card there (I was upset and needed to go home to get my regular debit card for gas.) When I reached out, their responses were ***** and they didn't take the time to fill out stuff. I can't contact them via phone. Please don't let a company bulldog me into taking my money by telling me it will be sent to collections. I am requesting a full refund, not being sent to a collections agency and my account reflecting no balance owed on gas buddy.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
I wrote to gas buddy via email (considered to be written, not verbal.) That I am revoking their access. They continued to attempt to debit after I have requested them not to.
Furthermore, I still have my paper with my pins written on them. (I'm not sure why this matters. I write every single pin down on my paper that I've ever had so I remember them.)
The card has never worked for me, I have not used this card either.
they continued to harass me about this charge that I did not make until I had to pay them because they were threatening to put it on my credit report. Therefore I paid it since this company does not put in due diligence to investigate issues.
The only use on their card was a charge that was not made by me. I do my best to keep things secure, but for all I know their system was hacked or someone was looking over my shoulder while I attempted to use this card.
I can attach proof of a written email stating their right to debit my account was revoked ( which is my right to do so anytime.) They continued to harass me and attempt to debit my account.
I am requesting a full refund of the funds taken from my account immediately to resolve this issue.

This email shows two things.
1. I never told them I didn't have my card holder, I stated my ID is on the card holder and that my card is not in my possession.
2. I in fact wrote them via email to stop attempting to debit my account. (I also said this verbally and on chat.) The person at customer support also replied via the same email after I had revoked their permission to do so.

I would like to dispute transactions above as they were unauthorized. I have brought this to the attention of you all multiple times . I keep receiving calls . I have not used this account before and it is fraudulent and opened without my permission . I have filed a police report for this issue as you all have done nothing again this issue has been reported multiple times to you all on different occasions even on a phone call. If needed the police report will be sent and again I do not have the gas buddy card in my possession nor do I know the bank account/ information on the account . Please close this account and the transactions as this is fraudulent. I submitted receipts for 3 gasback transactions back in November 2022. After waiting 3 business days and not seeing my gas back or getting an email confirming my gas back was being processed, I contacted the company. It took them 11 days, to send a generic response asking if I still needed assistance. I responded yes the same day and no one has responded since or to my follow-up inquiries. It's been over a month and I've sent at least 6 emails. They owe me Gas Back but seem to be refusing to process it or respond to any of my emails.Business response

The website gasbuddy.com has inaccurate prices everyday. I have spent more money on gas driving to gas stations to get the posted price on gasbuddy.com only to find that the price is not there and never was. Gasbuddy needs a way to verify prices before posting them. This site is sending people all over wasting energy resources and time. The current system promotes abuse as reporters earn points by reporting and have no penalty for false reporting.Business response

I received a promotional email from GasBuddy yesterday even though I deleted my account and unsubscribed from any and all promotional emails months ago. I attempted to unsubscribe using the unsubscribe link located at the bottom of the email but the page that is presented is a 404 error page. I'd like GasBuddy to cease sending any and all promotional emails to my email address and I'd like them to investigate why their unsubscribe page is mysteriously never working.Business response

While I do accept the outcome of their response, this matter shows a troubling possibility that GasBuddy, even after claiming to have deleted a customer's account entirely, is still able to send marketing emails without any way for the consumer to cease receiving them (other than file a complaint that is). I will consider this matter resolved if GasBuddy promises to thoroughly review each and every deleted account to make sure they're not illegally sending marketing emails to any consumers. Furthermore, if GasBuddy happens to notice that a consumer is still receiving marketing emails after unsubscribing and deleting their account, GasBuddy will not only ensure that the unsubscribe link found within those emails is fully functional, but will also proactively inform the consumer that they are mistakenly being sent marketing emails without the consumer's consent and will cease immediately unless the consumer explicitly chooses to opt back in to such marketing emails. I understand that technical errors are a possibility, but as a consumer myself I am inclined to hypothesize that this issue may have some intention to it. After their thorough review and report, I will be more than happy to consider this case resolved. I would also like confirmation that any and all of the information that GasBuddy has pertaining to me in their system be provided to me and then erased completely. I will also be more than happy to update this case if for whatever reason I still receive any and all marketing communications from GaaBuddy.Initial Complaint

This is an app for comparing gas station prices. I deleted the app from my phone and have tried unsuccessfully several times to unsubscribe from all their email communications. I have complained via email about this and they still have not removed me from their list. Having the choice to unsubscribe from a business' email list is mandated by law and this company is not complying. They have no customer service phone number or any other way to file a complaint.
