On March 9, 2020, BBB Serving North Central Texas contacted Web Geek International after receiving BBB Scam Tracker allegations that the business is utilizing pop-up alerts warning consumers that the device being used has been infected with a virus, and are then directed to call Web Geek International so the business can solicit them for computer repair services.

BBB also noted that Web Geek International claims to operate at the same address as an HP Printer Center in Las Colinas, but there's no indication that the business operates at the address advertised online.

The business does not appear to be registered to conduct commerce in the State of Texas, and failed to provide any documentation demonstrating that it is an actual business.

The BBB Code of Advertising states that, "The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims or offers made before publication or broadcast and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or the Better Business Bureau."

BBB NCTX requested that the business respond to the allegations and concerns noted. Notably, the company's marketing partner responded on March 16, 2020.

A search indicated that the email was sent from India, where the marketing partner noted that all emails sent to the business were actually sent directly to the SEO company instead of Web Geek International itself.

As of March 17, 2020, the business has failed to substantiate or fully respond to BBB's requests.
