Hey, I had a disturbing encounter at ************ in ****** *****, and thought you should know.***** retired, and the old guy now running the store thought it was perfectly acceptable to sell contaminated edibles. When I asked for 3 blues, and 3 pinks last Friday, the Owner reached into the blue tub without incident, but when he reached into the pink tub, the new Owner instantly exclaimed, "Eww, sticky!" as he touched the candy. Through a storage error on their part, the whole pink tub of edibles had melted. He then bagged the candies quickly, without letting me see what was up.The pinks were escaping their wrappings, to the point the Owner had to physically wrench the candies out of the tub, and when he finally did get the candies free, his fingerprints were deeply embossed in all three of the pinks, thoroughly grossing me out. When I asked for an exchange today, his initial reply was an uncaring, "They melt."No joke, he didn't see anything wrong with selling candies that had become emblazoned with both his fingerprints, and his germs. After that initial shock, I said I didn't melt them, as evidenced by the blues not melting, and that I didn't want his fingers in my mouth. I reminded him of the effort he had to put into removing the pink candies, and he relented, but continued to act like I was nuts for not wanting his contaminated candy. It felt like a hostile confrontation, but I wasn't leaving without an exchange. These candies cost **** each, so asking for them to be clean, and still in the wrapper doesn't feel unreasonable to me. Am I the a****** for insisting on clean candy?
