My daughter, ******* ****** (over 18), had an appointment over the summer with a Thriveworks counselor. I used my credit card to set the appointment for payment (appointment set in **, but credit card statement shows the Thriveworks VA). Months later, beginning on 12/9 per the credit card company, I began getting a $39 fee monthly (again on 1/9). I called them, and although they understandably wouldn't give me any information regarding ********* care, they told me the fee I was seeing was a "membership fee". That was never mentioned in my conversations setting up the counseling session. We did get the membership fee cancelled and the January $39 refunded. ******* was told this was mentioned somewhere in the consents she had to sign for the appointment, therefore hidden in the fine print. I feel this a very underhanded and unethical way to treat clients coming to them for mental health issues. They would not refund anything but January. My younger son, **** ******, had spoken with a Thriveworks counselor before ********* appointment, and this did not happen with his account.Business response

This is my second case with BBB involving Thriveworks because this issue has unfortunately continued even after the first case was closed. I received confirmation that my account and "membership" with Thriveworks was cancelled and that I owed no further money to them. This "proof" was issued by someone named ******** ******. Now, months later, Thriveworks filed a claim for services I never received and are telling me that I owe $20. Both myself and my insurance company have been contacting them relentlessly for an answer and still have not received any notice that this has been resolved. I have even reached back out to ******** twice now in the past week, and no response. This company is an absolute scam and are hurting so many people with their irresponsible, fraudulent practices. I, along with the many others I see filing complaints and reviews about Thriveworks, just want to be done dealing with this company after being told our accounts have been cancelled. We should not be continuously contacted and told we owe money for services that never occurred and that Thriveworks never had record of.Business response
