I recent** had the misfortune of trying to withdraw my own money from Virginia 529, and it was a horrendous experience from start to finish. First, I was told over the phone that I needed to provide images of my driver's license and SSN card for my initial withdrawal. The call itself was a disaster the background noise was so loud, with other agents talking over each other, that I could bare** hear my own agent. It was like they had no concept of professionalism or customer service or privacy.Then, I received a secure link to upload my documents, but it came with no instructions whatsoever. I asked for an email so I could share them with you. I expressed my frustration and I was told that an email was sent after my withdrawal request that there were additional steps. I missed the email. I wonder why those steps were not part of the witthdrawal process. My guess is incompetence. In order to open the account I had to provide identity proof. Why ask for it on withdrawal in an email days after the withdrawal request?Virginia 529 seems to enjoy making their customers jump through endless hoops just to access their own money. If you want to jump through hoops to get your money, use Virginia 529. Since they made me go through all these extra steps, I figured I'd take one more step to leave this review on ******* BBB, Yelp, and every other platform I can find. Their customer service is a joke, their communication is non-existent, and they clear** dont care about their customers' time or frustration.
