I read the previous 1 star review, and the answer is no - ******************* is not doing better than she was 10 years ago. She treated me very well over the phone, until she met ******* long-term partner when we came to meet the dog we were interested in. We have good jobs & are in our 30s, but we got the STRONG impression she saw us & thought we're impulsive, idiotic 20-somethings. She was mean to the poor little dog, constantly lectured me, argued against everything I said. Still, we were very nice to her & chalked this up to her being a quirky animal lover. She sent us home to "think about it". Later, after I called to leave a message with her about how my partner and I would be thrilled to bring the little dog into our lives, she called me back and I am still in utter disbelief at how she treated me. *** gave me a flat-out no, saying that even though she wants the poor dog "out of her house" & doesn't think she'll ever get adopted, she'd prefer that happen than ever give the dog to us. She made wild assumptions about our relationship being volatile, unstable, & abusive & I have no idea where any of that came from!!! Seriously, what?! Then, she accused me of emotionally manipulating her and my partner, simply because I got choked up at all the horrible things she was saying to me. As soon as she heard the emotion in my voice, *** mocked me, saying, "Well, now you've REALLY lost the dog. I'm trying to have an adult conversation with you and you're doing what I'm sure you do to your partner to get him to do what you want." She told me that I might as well go to "one of those rescues where they'll give anyone a dog," and that she expected me to do that as soon as I got off the phone with her. I have never, ever been treated so horribly as I was by this woman. *** has singlehandedly turned us off of ever going to another rescue run out of anyone's backyard. Overall, she's an absolute insane mess of a person. I only feel awful for the dogs she brings into her care.
