We decided to have PoolScapes Midwest build our in-ground pool in the summer of 2023. First, I'll explain the positives. Joe, the owner and general contractor, is a nice guy, adjustments mid-project were reasonably priced, and with the exception of various cosmetic flaws, we feel we got the pool we paid for. See ************* for a full review, content deleted due to character limits. Joe is one of the worst construction project managers I've ever hired. He quoted 4 to 8 weeks to complete the whole job; there were 5 or 6 days of inclement weather throughout the 11-week job, but it shouldn't have taken that long! There were several periods of 3 to 5 days that no one would show up! It always seemed that when it came to the schedule, he'd just tell us what we wanted to hear and hide the fact he had little control over the schedule of his subcontractors. Joe was rarely onsite, nor did he show up for TWO failed inspections. I had to spot major issues including our dig line (YES where they are supposed to dig) and my $12k swim jet installation. He also couldn't bother to take photos for draw requests from the bank, he kept asking me to do it. During one draw request, backfill was required to be completed. Fill was nowhere near a level ready for concrete preparation, so I delayed the draw. The finishing work lacked quality. Concrete: we have 2 large dips where water pools and doesn't drain; it was splattered and dried all over the top of the retaining wall and home; there have been noticeable chips; and it wasn't smoothed around electrical pipes. Retaining wall: cap stones are not level, and a few are not cut and not laid perpendicular; decorative stone settled and sank 1-2 inches because of improper backfill. We will have to spend $1k-$2k to fix this. I had to finish my own landscape lighting the day before concrete was scheduled because the guy who was supposed to do it didn’t complete the wiring and never came back to fix it. Awful experience; find another pool builder.

We really appreciated the opportunity to build this custom pool for ****** and his wife. Yes, it was an 11-week project. Weve built pools in 4 weeks. Weve also built pools that take up to 16 weeks. The goal on this custom project was 8 weeks and we went over. There are a linty of reasons why a build can go over. Weather delays, waiting on inspections, waiting on materials and change requests during the build. This build had all of those challenges. So thank you ****** and ****** for allowing us to build your custom pool. I hope you have many years of enjoyment in your pool with friends and family. My apologies that you weren't 100% satisfied but as you stated you feel you got the pool you paid for.
