I'm not very happy about Collin ******* and Chapman concrete. I originally discussed with his dad Cal (which i thought was the owner) exactly what I wanted for a complete driveway replacement, and specific things i wanted done. Cal assured me that they would be able to accommodate. Collin fell short, and i feel like they cut corners any chance they could. In the contract it stated that he would remove the existing asphalt. Collin only removed half of my old driveway and when I brought it to his attention he just said it would be fine. My issue is that it states in the contract removal of existing driveway. My biggest issue is that Collin charged me an additional 2000 for "extra concrete underneath driveway", the day after everything was removed. It wouldn't have been an issue with me if it was a couple hundred dollars but 2000 is over the top, especially because it only took them 5 hours to remove and frame the driveway, and they knew about the concrete before the job was quoted. I work in the service industry and it's shady things like this that makes it so hard to trust any contractors. I wouldn't recommend Chapman concrete to anyone, and I would avoid them like the plauge. If you do decide to go with this company i would read their contract very carefully because they have it set up to basically do whatever they want.

Jordan, I'm sorry that your project didn't go the way you expected. We pride ourselves in our work, high standards and that pride is displayed on every job we do. We do have provisions in our contract to help notify and prepare our clients for changes that may need to happen as the work is performed. These changes (which were all approved by you before the work took place) are not to help us take advantage of a client, they are necessary for us to do work that lasts. I feel you are greatly misrepresenting your experience with us so that you feel validated into not paying your bill. I find your review to be very untrue, and doesn’t accurately reflect how your job turned out.  We poured the driveway to the dimensions that YOU discussed with Cal upon doing the estimate.  We did a walk through of what was discussed between you, and Cal.  You saw the blue print of the driveway dimensions prior to us starting.  When we arrived you asked to make your driveway wider than what was originally planned.  I explained that we were not able to accommodate that request since widening the driveway would put it too close/on the property line. There are city codes we have to follow. Again we explained this to you and you understood that we could not do that per city codes.          We did not and do not cut corners on any job we perform for any customer.  We did remove your asphalt driveway.  (see attached pictures from start to finish on your driveway).  There was one small section of asphalt left because it was 4 inches below grade.  Meaning we had to add 4 inches of gravel above the asphalt.  Which is below the driveway enough not to affect the new concrete being poured.  I also explained that to you on the phone when I called to find out why you were late on the final payment.          The “$2,000.00” extra that you were charged was for extra concrete removal.  Yes, we did know that there was concrete below a section of asphalt in front of your garage.  What we did not know was that the concrete below the asphalt was 11-12 inches thick with boulders/field stone in it, and 35 ft long by 7ft wide.  There was also a stoop under the asphalt that needed to be removed by your side door that was 14-18 inches thick.  These are unforeseeable issues that we could not have known about.  We don’t have x-ray vision.  I did take pictures of the thickness which you told me you didn’t need to see.  I also took $200 off of the additional cost of removal that was $1,970.22 which lowered the cost to $1,770.22.  The difficulty to remove the stoop section with the thicknesses of concrete put a lot of wear and tear on the equipment.  There is an extra load of concrete that needed to be removed, and extra gravel needed to fill the void of that extra concrete removal.  It costs money in gas, labor, equipment and materials. All are all figured into the extra costs.  We do not charge per hour.  We have the equipment, man power, and knowledge to complete our jobs efficiently.          Originally when I quoted your job I took off $4,000 dollars to price match another company because you wanted to go with us over the other company.  The day before we came you asked if you could pay in payments for the final payment. I understood your disposition and made arrangements with you to accommodate your request. There were unforeseeable issues, and you wanted a down spout buried, which led to extra costs.  These extra costs were explained to you.  You signed a change of work order which again reiterated the change in price, I also deducted $200.00 to work with you, and bring the total cost down. After we completed the job you kept asking me to take off more which I explained to you I could not do.  I had already lowered my price 2 times. We completed your driveway on 9/11/24.  When we left you were extremely happy with how your driveway turned out. We gave you a great quality job.  Your final payment was due on 9/26/24 per our agreement of the payment plan. I called you on 10/09/24 because we still hadn't received your final payment.  You explained to me then that you were upset about the price again and were still seeking money off. The accusation was then made that we were taking advantage of you. I did everything that I could to try to accommodate you and your financial situation. I accepted your request to make payments over time. This is something that I typically do not do, for this reason. I made sure that you were included in on all aspects of your job and any changes were approved by you via the change of work order that you signed. I have yet to receive final payment from you. Please pay your bill.                   Thank you,                            Chapman Concrete LLC
