Hi, thank you for your time.Action car rental has charged my credit card $35.56 on Feb. 3 2024. Claiming they recently got a toll violation on my rental. I was in ******* ** in July of last year. How is it possible to get a toll violation 7 months later? This cannot be true, I used my NY EZpass while using their rental (please see my ezpass statement)I tried several times reaching out to them without any response. Its very frustrating trying to get in touch with someone. According to their ******** page, a few people I noticed were having the same issues. If they have a toll violation while I was using the vehicle then I need to see the violation notice with the ************* that puts me in the same vehicle I rented.Please, your help will be greatly appreciated. We have to wait for the state to send the toll violations. If you would like a copy of the ****** receipt. You will have to contact ******************************************
You can't use your own ****** in our rental vehicles they are already have ****** on them.

Ive informed the agent at the time of pick up I would be using my Ez pass for all tolls. If there was a e pass on the car at the time, then this should have been removed. This is a mistake on their part.

Do NOT rent from this company!They try to get you to sign up for an expensive plan to "cover" toll roads.We opted out of the plan and were careful to avoid toll roads. Added "avoid tolls" to our ****** Maps and had five adults in the car watching carefully for toll roads.We did NOT ever get on a toll road during our one week stay in the ******* area.Imagine our surprise a month later when we got a bill for ****** with a note listing several supposed toll infractions!No photo image of the license plate, just their word against ours. We started a credit card dispute and are still working on that. We (and they) have no PROOF that we didntgo through toll roads.I called ****** in ******* and unfortunately there is no photo image of the license plate passing into a toll zone. This is because their cars have a "transponder" built in.They listed the WRONG make and model car, and got the DATES completely wrong of when we were thereThis is outrageous and extremely frustrating!Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT rent from Action Car Rentals (NU car rentals) in ******* ******* or they will be sure to scam you like they scammed us.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:there is no definitive proof that that was my car that went through those tolls. And your response to the credit card company you listed a different type of car and different dates. Just because you vote certain toll points, and claim that they were attached to the license plate on the vehicle I drove means absolutely nothing. I would need proof, which would be a photo of the license going through those toll points. Just because you say that was my car does not mean it was. I am very angry about this, and we were very careful not to go on any toll roads. It is my word against yours and just because you sent a list to the credit card company dispute does not mean your list is true. I reject your response.

I woke to TWO erroneous charges posted to my credit card, posted last night (1/16/24) one second apart near midnight, for the previous reservation ********* applying to the dates of 12/14/23 - 12/18/23. The reservation was paid-in-full and there were no outstanding issues to settle at the time of return. It looks like you ran tolls in the rental vehicle during the time you had the rental car.

No tolls were interacted with as an employee of the car rental company took the transponder and assessed charges to my family when we have provided 100% evidence that we were not in the areas of the tolls or traveling the direction noted from the tolls. The timestamps of our photographs and geographical locations dont lie.Initial Complaint

This company took a huge down-payment from me for a rent to own car. They did not want to give me a receipt and tried to make me pay the deposit in cash. After complaining I was finaly able to get a receipt for my deposit. I gave them permission to auto debit my account because its impossible to reach the company by phone. In December I told them to debit my account twice they never did. After they failed to debit my account they came and took the car back. The rent to own agreement they gave me had no due date, or any information relating to the payments. It just simply said after I paid 800 dollars I own the car. I was finally able to reach the lady that takes the payment by cell and she hung up on me, blocked my calls and said I would not be receiving my deposit or the car back because I was 17 days late after me continuing to tell them to debit my account. I would like this company to give me back my deposit after taking the car. The manager that I normally deal with said he was no longer over that department leaving me with no one to give me answers. This company needs to close down. They also gave me that car with the wrong tags on it. I was pulled over by the police and the car was impounded until they fixed the tags.. and brought the car back...Initial Complaint

We rented a vehicle from NU with Action car rental. We We charged on line immediately out of our account for 163. 89 something. Got to the rental place at **** pm after our flight. He asked if we had insurance. I said yes and we decline their insurance. Never in all the 20 years of coming to ******* have I been told to show proof of insurance. Never knew I was supposed to bring proof. He basically said show proof take thir insurance or no car. We couldn't very well call our insurance agent for.proof at **** pm. So we had no choice. Plus then we gave him our card not only did they hold 200 they also charged us 25 a day for use of a debit card. When I got.home I sent them proof of my insurance and requested refund as what they have done is fraudulently charged me as they knew I needed a car. Plus just randomly charging me for use of card. I want to be refunded for the insurance that was not needed and use of my card. Total amount ******. Please help me. And also to put them out of business from scamming others unnecessary charges or duplicate charges.Customer response

I have had a Sun Pass account for over 15 years and never had a problem with toll payments in rental cars until using Action Car Rentals. I have been coming to Orlando for over 20 years and never experienced anything like this. I told the agent on picking up the car that I had my own Sun Pass account so wouldn't need theirs, nothing was said. On August 23rd $188-79 was taken from my credit card without any explanation. It took almost 3 weeks to find out it was for toll violations. It eventually transpired that the unpaid tolls were on E-Pass tolls only, all my Sun Pass tolls were paid. For over two months I have been speaking to Sun Pass and E-Pass and it transpires that all Action Car Rental cars are covered by E-Pass and Action Car Rentals should have approached Sun Pass to check if I had a transponder with them but they failed to do this. So I have been charged $188-79 by Action Car Rentals because their staff do not do their job properly and do not understand how the toll system works. It is clearly obvious from reading other peoples problems with this firm that this is a serious problem for this company. The money they took from me has been done illegally as I had the correct equipment fitted in the hire car to pay the tolls. Sun Pass told me that virtually every car rental company has accounts with both them and E-Pass. It is safe to assume that this a money saving ploy by Action Car Rentals by not having a Sun Pass account like normal rental companies. I have told Action Car Rentals that I am more than happy to pay the unpaid tolls which come to $28-72 but they need to refund the balance.Business response

All of Action cars have the transponder on the vehicles. We are very clear when we explain the procure at the counter agent. We also have signs all around the lobby explaining the tolls.
We also advise customer that don't purchase the toll service to put into the phone or the GPS Avoid Toll Roads. It clearly states on the contract that if you run the tolls there will be a penalty.

I am rejecting this response because the response is a total load of rubbish and they ignored totally what I have written. I had a transponder that worked correctly during the hire of this car. Action car Rentals did not attempt to retrieve the unpaid tolls they received from my account with Sun Pass. Both Sun Pass and E-Pass have informed me that Action Car Rentals have not follow the correct procedures in recovering the unpaid E-Pass tolls. This is just another example of what a very poor company they are.

I rented a car and agreed only to additional driver. The other charges I did not agree too. I want them to credit my credit card the charges for 124.95 for damage waiver and 69.95 for tolls. These are fraud charges. They can bill me for the two tolls that I occurred with the carBusiness response

I purchased a vacation package on priceline.com on May 30th. 2023 for hotel and car in total. And I paid the car rental service in advance. However, when we picked up the car on Sept 21st, they asked the driver, my husband to sign the agreement without me on-site. On the agreement, they assigned a new number, not the confirmation number on priceline.com and the total amount (car rental plus tax and fees) is $160.33. I don't think we should pay this duplicate charges. It is a cheating charge on us.Business response

Customer wasn't charged by rental location. The customer reservation was prepaid. If customer looks at the contract it states voucher was applied. The only thing we do is a 200.00 security deposit which is returned once customer,
returns the rental vehicle.

I rented a 2022 TOYOTA CAMRY on 08/16/2023 09:37 AM and returned on 08/22/2023 07:34 PM. This car was booked and prepaid through Hotwire for a total of 241.32. My agreement number is MCO-****** I used my own Florida toll pass the entire time, the car was full at the time of return, the car was cleaned upon return and I used my own insurance to cover the rental car. When I returned the vehicle I received a receipt that indicated that I had a zero balance. On September 9th I received an email indicating that I'm being charged $156.36 but doesn't specify why I'm being charged this new sum. I've submitted a ticket with Action Car rental and tried to call but have not receive any response.Business response

Customer is aware at the time of the rental. They can't use their own epass because all of our cars are equipped with epass already. This is stated in the office along with being on the rental agreement. At this point in time there will be no refund issued.Customer response

Rented a car from Orlando Airport as I have done for the last 20 year to drive to my Parents home in Sebastian … I DECLINED the toll transponder in the car as I hit 2 tolls on Highway 528 that I pay cash for … with toll keepers 24/7 … yet in the last year not only this car rental agency but all of them have decided that you have NO CHOICE but to activate their ridiculous transponder even if paying cash and if you don’t even going through the pay cash lane it activates the transponder and you are charged a ridiculous amount of money, as I was to the tune of $229.88. I made two trips back and forth to the Orlando airport for a total of 6 tolls WHICH I PAID CASH FOR AND HAVE RECEIPTS yet woke up to an email and this charge this morning .. 3 weeks after renting the car… they REFUSE to do anything, in fact I was hung up on! I want to know first of all WHO gives these rental companies the right to tell us we have to use their transponders and can not pay cash and TWO who allows them to charge us in excess of $25 for ONE toll! It’s bogus it’s fraud it is theft and something needs to be done about it! Is it The state of Florida who allows this? Is there no regulation that they are allowed to charge the consumer whatever they want? No to mention their trick tactic of not showing you the contract your signing but give you the minimum info verbally and have you sign a key pad that shows your signature only … you receive the “contract” later via email it’s then you find out your screwed. Disgusting! I have disputed this with my credit card company who has agreed with me … I have filed a formal complaint against the employee of this hideous rental agency that hung up on me and if need be I’ll sue them as well …Business response

I am reading the notes that my employee left in the contract, and he clearly stated to stay off the highway to avoid additional charges for the tolls. All of our vehicles are equipped with toll passes. That is the reason why we give you the option to purchase at the time of rental. In the state of Florida there are 729 miles of toll roads. please see the list of the tolls roads you traveled on.

I arrived in Florida on June 20th and traveled on Highway 528 that day to Sebastian Florida once you get off 528 and on to 95 THERE ARE NO TOLLS I did not travel back onto 528 until June 29 and then again on July 2 the remainder of my whole entire stay was in Sebastian Florida, where I was cleaning out the house of my dead father! None of those tolls on any of those roads are mine nor do you have the dates correct! And again paid cash $1.50 and $1.75 respectively for the two tolls coming and going on 528I do not care what your contract says, you do not let your customer see the contract when we are. They are signing anything you bring it up on a tiny little pee pad where we only sign our name. The contract is nowhere in sight until we sign our signature and then you email it to us after we leave the facility. I do not care what you try and tell your customer we have the right to deny usage of your transponder paying outrageous amount for tolls. It is a scam it is against the law and I will take you and your company to court I have spoken to Sunpass. I have spoken to the better business bureau in person not only online and I have called the attorney generals office in the state of Florida.! I am done being had by rental companies in your state just because we rent cars from an airport!
