I received treatment at City MD on November 2023 under my company's insurance, however they didn't file a claim to my insurance until 9 months after my visit- August 2024. In which I was no longer covered by that insurance. Now I have a bill for $197 because they claim my insurance was not able to cover the cost. If it had been filed on the date of my actual treatment it would have been. This is wrong. They should not be filing the claim 9 months later and requesting money.Business response

Regarding my dissatisfaction with the billing practices I encountered following my recent visit to CityMD. My son received stitches on his leg from the location. The physician said to comeback for a follow up visit to get them removed on 7/25. After the stitches were removed I later received a copay due for the follow up visit. After calling the main office the resolution came back stating that for followup visits you still required co-payment and that I had free will to take my son to a different ** even though the physician specifically stated to come back. The representative with the decision was rude and stated that her decision was final which is unacceptable, also stated multiple times that I have free will and should of taken the child somewhere else for a follow up visit. That she sees this all of the time.Customer response

I walked into a City MD (Summit Health) on 7/21/2024. I asked to see a doctor as I was having vertigo. The doctor came in the room and spoke to me and my wife for all of two minutes and said he can not do anything for me and I should go to an ER. A week later and City MD sent me a bill for $300. I called them to ask what this bill was for as I knew they wouldn't have charged me for nothing, but they did. They charged me for nothing. I will not be paying this bill as this is a ridiculous charge. What am I paying for? This is a scam.I contacted Summit Health and they said they are not changing anything, nor would they even let me speak to someone other than the operator.Business response

Regarding my dissatisfaction with the billing practices I encountered following my recent visit to CityMD. I required an annual check up for my school, and was told that since it was for school it will cost me $75 which I paid, on 7/24 I received a bill from CITYMD for $150 for this visit. When I called CityMD they told me that my health insurance denied my claim. I was NOT told by CityMD employees at time of visit that the total cost of the visit would be $225 and that I will be billed the remanded of the visit if insurance was denied. I was ONLY told about the $75 charge.Business response

I visited CityMD **************** ************* *** at ********************************* on 7/17/24 with symptoms related to infection. Upon conducting a test and examination by the doctor onsite, he confirmed I had a severe kidney infection. He gave me 1000mg of an antibiotic and said he would send out a prescription for me to pick up first thing in the morning. However, the next day the prescription was not ready. I called CityMD and they told me they had NO record of a prescription for me and did NOT see anywhere on my chart that the doctor had given me antibiotics himself. They asked that I went back and rerun the test and examination in order to provide me with a prescription. How is it possible that this facility has NO record or control of the medication that was provided to me onsite by one of their doctors? They also said they had NO way of communicating with the doctor to confirm. They insisted in having me come in once again, wasting my time, and putting my health at risk by delaying the intake of antibiotics for what was already a severe kidney infection given that my back hurt just by touching it. I missed 2 hours of work because of this and I demand an explanation of how records are or are not maintained at this facility. I want a formal complaint filed against this facility and this doctor for failing to maintain medical records accurately and up to date.Business response

********************* <******************>Thu, Jun 6, 12:44PM (6 days ago)to billing I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the billing practices I encountered following my recent visit to CityMD *******************************, ****************************** . I visited your facility on April 24th, 2024, for my annual physical check-up. Additionally, I had paperwork from the ****************** non-profit organization that required a physician's signature as proof of my physical test. Before my appointment, I specifically inquired with the front desk staff if the paperwork signing would be included as part of my annual physical check and billed accordingly. The front desk representative consulted with Dr. ********************* and confirmed that it would be billed as part of the annual physical check. After my appointment, I paid the $35 copay for the annual physical visit. However, on May 3, 2024, I received an additional bill for $265. Upon contacting my insurance company, Aetna, I was informed that they cover only the annual physical check and not the signing of additional paperwork. It is clear to me that I was misinformed by CityMD staff, resulting in this unexpected charge. I have been a loyal patient of CityMD Park Slope for years, but this incident has caused me considerable frustration and disappointment.Customer response

Hello,I would like to lodge a complaint for unfair business practices from CityMD **************** on 08/02/2023. I went into this business solely for a covid test and have been unfairly charged $100 for an 'office visit.' The Covid Test offered from this practice were free at the time and I have still been charged. Not once during my visit was I ever told that covid tests were a charge, in fact the extremely disrespectful staff member working there just pointed to the kiosk to self-check in without offering any acknowledgement of my condition. There was no information on the screen to communicate of charges for this service. I even paid a $35 co pay for the visit as I was desperate to be seen as I had horrible symptoms from the covid virus and sought the help from what I thought was a reputable business who puts patients' needs in front of money. Sadly, I was very wrong. So not only did I pay the $35 at the time, which I asked and was told that would be the only charge, I was then shocked when I received another bill for $65 on top of this. In no way will I ever pay this. I have called CityMD multiple times and they have been very unhelpful, with the line either dropping out, being cut off and not picking up. Similarly, they refer me to my health insurance, however it is not a matter of coverage when the procedure should've been free in the first place. ************** at the time issued the free covid tests and specifically named this business to attend. They should've been transparent in the fact they were now charging for covid tests and at the very least told me at the time and I would've gone somewhere else. This is bad business practices and deceitful. The date of service was 8/2/23. Reference ID#*************. I am seeking the invoice amount of $65 to be cleared please. As compromise, I accept the payment of the $35 I already made however obviously would appreciate that back as well to resolve this to satisfaction. Invoice attached. Thank you, *****************************Customer response

Please see complaint ID# ********. This is a followup/contintuaiton I am raising this complaint again as it has not been rectified and I have been waiting for a promised update and reply from CityMD for over *************************************************************************************************** not. Also, the issue with my insurance being updated has not been rectified nor have they sorted my last bill. Most important the horrific aftercare or lack of has left me disturbed and traumatized. I've had to take notes from CityMD and share them with another medical provider just for a necessary prescription. CityMD would have known this if they invested in the health and well-being of their patients rather than demanding money from whomever wherever. *************************** from CityMD was supposed to get back to me. If she has left or no longer works for that department then it should have gone to whomever handled her cases it has been over a month and I have been forgotten about.
