In July 2021, I asked McAllen Valley Roofing to come give me a quote on re-roofing on my two houses. My primary residence was tile and my other house was metal. Juan came out the next day. He said my home with the tile roof could not be repaired because the Italian clay tiles were no longer made. He said they would take them away. My other house had a metal roof. I told him that I wanted to keep the metal to use on chicken coop or other things here. I took out a loan for the roofs at that time. Two weeks later; I called to let him know that I had decided on shingle roofs for both houses. He came to the house the next day for the shingle choice and for me to sign the contract and give the information for the debit from my bank account. On 08/08/21, McAllen Valley Roofing withdrew $5,107.50 for my home and $3672.50 for my other house. I did not hear from them after that. I called Juan on 08/30/21. I had made the first loan payment and nothing had been done. He said the shingle I wanted was out of stock. I had to make a second choice. They came out on Labor Day to start the roofs. They were gentle removing and stacking the metal roof until my daughter told them I was keeping it. They then started tossing it to the ground. The Italian clay tile roof from my home, was very carefully removed and stacked on a trailer. They drove off with the tiles and old metal gutters (they left the downspouts) and I haven’t seen them since. My riding mower has roofing nails in the tires. They left trash. They never put the gutters on. They did not paint the eaves. When contacted, I was told they’d be out Friday, then Monday, them Friday. I gave up. They didn’t fulfill their contract. The contract states they would pull permits. I called my city permit office, said permits were not pulled for either house. I live in a coastal county. No inspections were done. No windstorm certification on the roofs They started sending invoices 2 months later. Breach of contract.
