            BBB received  Scam Tracker reports about Buyatab, an online gift card company based in Vancouver, BC. Consumers alleged that they paid for gift cards, but they were not able to activate the gift cards they purchased. Consumers contacted the business but they were not able to return the product or get a refund.

            BBB reached out to the business with letters on January 8, 2021 and February 1, 2021to confirm details about their business location, return and refund policies. 

            As of April 1, 2021 BBB has not received a response from Buyatab. The website for the company, https://web.buyatab.com/ is still active.

            • Before shopping with an unknown online merchant, ask the company for its physical location (address and phone number) so you can check on its reliability with outside organizations like BBB.

            Buyatab is the gift card provider for *******. I was issued a $99 ******* refund in the form of an online gift card to my email on Aug 22, 2024. When I went to the store on Aug 30, there was only 0.27 cents on the card. The email I received when the gift card was issued to me says to contact Buyatab for additional questions regarding the gift card. When I contact them, they tell me they don't have this gift card in their system and to follow up with *******. When I try to follow up with *******, I am told that ******* has successfully refunded the full amount to the gift card and that I need to contact Buyatab. Neither company is taking responsibility for the fact that this gift card was compromised and an unauthorized transaction took place. I did not make this transaction, I did not give or share this gift card info with anyone else and my email was not hacked. Yet, I am the one who is out near $99.I have a transaction history receipt that clearly shows the activation date and time (Aug 23 at 0145) that does not correspond with the date I received this gift card (Aug 22 at 1945 ). Why is there a discrepancy in the issue date and time? There is clearly something wrong with this gift card. Perhaps it was issued to multiple people or maybe it is just a faulty card.I would like Buyatab to take accountability for this unauthorized transaction on this defective gift card which denied me the full $99 refund I am entitled to. Please refund me the unauthorized transaction amount.

            If I could leave zero stars, I would!I was tasked with collecting funds to purchase a gift card for a work colleague as her Maternity gift. June 3rd, 2024, I accessed the Winners/TJX website to purchase online and have a hardcopy gift card sent to her at home. The website brought me to Buyatab, which I assumed was a trusted website. By June 21st, my colleague still had not received the $170.00 gift card. (Very awkward conversation to have to bring this up with her.) She verified with me that I had the correct mailing address, so I called the customer service line who told me they would mail out a replacement card immediately. On June 28th, my colleague told me she had received it! However, mid July, she contacts me to tell me how when she finally went to the store to use her gift card, she was told there was no money on it!HOW HUMILIATING FOR HER AND FOR ME! (Who has to explain to all of my work colleagues about this scam.)I reached out AGAIN to Buyatab and provided all receipts and numbers to them, who told me that they were only a third party and could not assist. I had to contact TJX directly. I did contact *** who told me they do not manage gift cards, Buyatab does. This is very frustrating and I am getting nowhere. Needless to say, my advice is to stay as far away as possible.
