Name: [Anonymous] Email: ***************** Business Name: Republic Services - ******* Road Landfill Address: ********************************* **Complaint Details** **Incident Date:** Last week of September, 2024 **Employee Involved:** ******* ***** (Security Guard)**Description of the Incident:** On or about the last week of September, I went to the Republic Services Landfill at ************************************ to dump material. I encountered an issue while waiting in line at the *************. A driver in front of me exited his vehicle and engaged in a long conversation with Mr. ******* ****** who I later found out was the security guard. This conversation went on for about 10 minutes, causing a significant delay for myself and several other trucks in line who were all at work and needed to proceed.After about 10 minutes of waiting, I honked my horn to try and move things along. When the conversation ended, I approached Mr. ***** to proceed with my transaction. Mr. ****** instead of focusing on the work at hand, confronted me about why I blew my horn. When I inquired as to who he was, he became upset and told me he would call others to "tell me who he is." I found this to be an odd and unprofessional response, given the situation.Later, after speaking with the supervisors, I was informed that Mr. ***** is the security guard. This information could have easily been conveyed when I asked, and it would have avoided the entire situation. However, Mr. ***** escalated the situation unnecessarily, causing me to be restricted from passing through the guard shack, which is something I regularly need to do for work purposes, particularly when there are backups at the scale.**Resolution Sought:** I request that Mr. ***** be reprimanded for his behavior and that my restriction from passing through the guard shack be lifted. His actions disrupted not only my workday but also caused unnecessary delays for others. I believe this issue could have beenBusiness response

Republic claim an investigation was done with absolutely no evidence of their claim. Also, my privilege has not been reinstated with permission to detour pass the guard shack like everybody else. I am being punished for blowing my horn. Truck drivers blow their horn all the time and they are not punished like this. Although, I will apologize for blowing my horn. If i have permission to take the detour i will happily accept the company response. I appreciate your assistance to resolve this matter. Thank you!Business response

We have followed our progressive discipline policy and addressed with the employee as necessary. We are currently in the process of making repairs to our scales at ******* Landfill, so we have to manage traffic flow based up number of customers,material they are bringing in, and type of vehicles that come through. As such,vehicles often have to pass through our security checkpoint to verify which company/customer they are and to direct them to the correct scale. Once we have all of our scales fully operational, traffic patterns will return to normal.Initial Complaint

I have file 1 complaint on a bill from republic have not rec an response on balance being zero out on picking up garbage cans still rec balance of 60 that I am not due to pay at this time please get back with meBusiness response

My garbage did not get picked up 2 times I called my local office they said they will come and get it the next day never happened Then i emailed their corporate office , they never reply i emailed 4 times terrible customer service Because it did not get my garbage picked up 2 times, i want a credit of one week for a month its $62.31 i want a credit on my account credidted for $15.52 one weekBusiness response

Today I cancelled my trash services. Republic told me that they couldn't cancel my service for 30 days and that I'd have to pay $90 for them to collect their trash bins. I asked if I could drop the bins off myself and was told no. I am paid in full as billing is quarterly and the last cycle ended 3 days ago. My trash has not been collected since my last payment. They are essentially charging me a $200 cancelation fee by insisting that I pay for another month of service I don't need or want and pay to have their property removed from my driveway. This seems illegal.Business response

Contact was made via telephone on 10/04/2024 to the customer. The account was closed as requested for September 30th, and customer was satisfied with the resolution. Also provided customer with a direct contact phone number, should they need anything further. We consider this matter resolved and closed.Customer response

I have been using Republic Services for a long time now. The past year they have only come to pick up my recycling 5 times. I do not understand why I am paying $240 for them to only come part time. Ive essentially given up on them ever coming for recycle again. I have filed numerous missed recycle reports. When they say they will return the next day they do not come. Its gotten so bad that I dont even waste my time putting the recycling out anymore after I file those missed recycling reports.Business response

Mr ****, your street is serviced for recycling every other Thursday, the last scheduled pickup day was 9/26, We show our truck was on the street at approximately 5:45am. You reported to us yesterday (10/2 at 22:49) that the stop was missed along with a message "Im not going to waste my time and put it out tomorrow. You all wont come anyway. Just wanted to let you all know."
We want to ensure you are receiving the service that you expect, if a miss is reported by 4pm we will recover the next business day. We have routed your missed pickup stop for recovery for tomorrow (10/4) Please place the cart curbside this evening and we will have someone out to recover tomorrow.
A supervisor has spoken with the driver to ensure he is servicing as scheduled every other week. We will get your picked up tomorrow and your next service day will be 10/10/2024

I moved out of my previous residence and gave proper notice on her around October 2023. They moved my account to my new address and prorated the monthly payment that I had made by refunding part of it to me. About three months there after, they charged me again for service. I have now called and spent close to two hours on the phone with them trying to get them to refund the random payment taken from my account months after I moved out and they continually put me off until finally they admitted that they dont think that I gave proper notice that I moved out. This is nonsensical because they already That I moved out and that is why they had refunded/prorated a previous payment. I am seeking not only refund of the payment, I am seeking the hourly fee for my time because I am now going on two hours attempting to deal with an unauthorized charge. It seems very clear that they are more interested in paying A representative $20 an hour to give me the runaround then to accept responsibility for their mistake and refund a charge that was very clearly made in error.Business response

August 21, 2024 we canceled our trash service with Republic Waste and signed up with another company. At that time, my wife was told that there was two weeks left in the billing cycle and that they would continue to pick up the trash for another two weeks. We advised them that wasn't necessary. We signed up with the new company. We were told our account would be final and we would not be receiving a bill because they bill in advance. Shortly after I started receiving calls from Republic Waste Services stating that a bill was owed. I called the customer service billing department and the very nice lady I spoke with said she would take care of it and we should not receive any more calls. Two weeks later I start getting more calls and I am now being told that we owe $81.87?? I called back and told that it was a partial bill for the billing cycle? Once again they bill in advance, so how are we in another cycle if we canceled two weeks before the previous one ended?Business response

After attempting to cancel service in August we were told we were paid through September and could not cancel prior to then. We received a prorated bill for ***** which we paid. Today I received an email for a charge of ***** for trash receptacle pickup. We were never advised of a trash receptacle pick up fee. I believe they should refund the prorated amount and delete the ***** receptacle pick up fee.Business response

As of 10.01.2024 the account currently reflects a balance due of $30.22. We are reversing the the charge.
As for any refund the customer was already given a credit of $15.32 for the the month of Sept 2024 & they called in to cancel in Aug 24.

I have had this service for 15 years. They are now refusing to pick up the trash where they always have in the past. Claiming that the road conditions have deteriorated. That is not true as the road is regularly maintained. They now want the trash cans to be placed uphill 50 feet from our house at our neighbors driveway. Neighbors dont want this. We physically can not do this.Business response

Republic Services continues to charge excessive fees for random things. They have moved to an AI camera system to record overages and "contaminated" items. However, the bin has anything sticking out and the rest of the bin is empty they will charge you an overage fee. If the recycling bin has one thing they deem as contaminated they will charge you a contamination fee. As a business I am required by State law to recycle all used aluminum containers. These cans are returned in recyclable bags from customers all over ********. The second that Republics new AI cameras see one of these bags they deem my recycling to be contaiminated. I have complained and complained about their new AI practices and they refuse to mediate just charge me more and more. Our garbage pickup is supposed to be around $200-$250 a month, right now I am being charged a minimum of $1200 a month. The solution for Republic is to do nothing and when I go to cancel they just sent me a bill for nearly $7000 to get out my contract early. I can either pay the $7000 and be done and move to a different company or continue to be at the whim of a camera which cannot decipher intent or weight and at the whim of a company that is content to consistently overcharge their customers and have their managers not return phone calls but have not problem sending certified letters with their opinion that I have violated my contract and now must pay $7000 on top of the monthly charges that can range from $1200 to $2000 a month.Business response

*** ******, Sales Supervisor, contacted customer to follow up on complaint. Offered to waive the early termination charges and release customer from contract. Customer agreed and requested removal of containers asap. Coordinating on removal of containers now.
