I entered into a 3 month contract with Nordic Energy on 11/30/2021 for a fixed rate plan at a rate 0.04799/kwh. However, I was then charged for the billing period of Jan 26, 2022 to Feb 23, 2022 at a rate of 0.117/kwh. I received this **** on 2/27/2022 and contacted Nordic Energy on 2/27/2022. Nordic Energy responded that the contract was not accepted because I was not a new customer. However, the notification I received on 11/30/2021 clearly indicated that a contract had been agreed upon ("Your 3 month contract with Nordic Energy was agreed to and enrolled on 11/30/2021"), at the rate of 0.04799/kwh. Furthermore I did not received any subsequent communication to the contrary. The contract required Nordic Energy to send two written notifications of any proposed changes to the plan ("whenever Nordic proposes to change the terms of this Agreement, Nordic will send you two separate written notices"). I did not received any such notifications. I reached out to their customer service multiple times. The last communication I received from them stated that the information had been sent to a supervisor. I never heard back from them and my last message to Nordic Energy customer service went unanswered (3/4/2022). I have attached the agreed upon contract and the correspondence I have had with Nordic Energy.Business response

Nordic Energy has researched the circumstances of this complaint. Nordic attempted to speak to the customer regarding his complaint, but was not able to, a voicemail was left. The web enrollment done on 11/30/2021 was rejected because this rate was for new customers only and he was an existing customer. ********************** apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused him. I am rejecting this response because:Nordic Energy claims to have rejected my enrollment, however I received a confirmation letter from Nordic Energy on 11/30/2021 stating:
"Your 3 month contract with Nordic Energy was agreed to and enrolled on 11/30/2021, and your service with Nordic Energy will begin on your next available meter read date. During the term of your contract, you will receive a fixed rate for the three (3) month Term."
I have already provided a copy of this communication and can do so again. This confirmation letter certainly did not indicate that my enrollment had been rejected and I did not receive any further communication regarding rejection of this enrollment prior to being billed at a rate three times higher than to what I had agreed to pay in the contract. I have asked Nordic Energy to provide documentation of any communication to me which would have indicated that the enrollment had been rejected, however I have not received a response to this request.

A few months (4-6) ago a rep from Nordic Energy knocked on our door and encouraged myself and my husband to switch our supplier for our gas and electric **** for our primary residence and for my mothers home. My moms home is around the corner from my mom. She has passed away but I am her estate administrator and my granddad live in the home. The rep promised lower rates. He made the switch fast and easy. It was all completed in minutes on my front porch. For the last few months the rates were low as he promised. About 2 months ago he came back to our home unannounced because he needed to make an update with our rate. He had them call us and complete a confirmation process. The next 2 bills were still low as they promised. This month I get the **** and our usage decreased but the **** tripled. The cost jumped from $2.19 per McF to $12.0975 per McF. This is not a reasonable change. It feels like a bait and switch and predatory. We called and the only explanation that the rep can tell me a that the rate is variable. The increase is on the gas **** for both of my properties.Business response

Nordic Energy has researched the circumstances of this complaint. The account was enrolled on 11/24/2021 with a Door-to-Door agent. The gas supply started on 11/29/2021 with a two-month introductory rate of $2.19/MCF of the initial 36-month contract. The electric supply started on 12/20/2021 with a two-month introductory rate of $0.04999/kwh of the initial 36-month contract. The customer was billed at the correct rate per the terms and conditions. Nordic spoke to the customer regarding her complaint. It was explained the accounts have been canceled and a rerate will be done as a courtesy for the last two service periods. She understood and thanked me for following up with her complaint. The customer information has been added to our Do Not Contact List. Nordic believes it has researched and addressed the concerns expressed and acted according to the customers request. On 10 February 2022 I called to cancel after discovering that Nordic had been continually charging double to triple the rates of semco. The agent was rude and said the best he could do was cancel my service, to which I agreed I wanted done. Fast forward to 9 March 2022 and my new **** comes with charges still in place from nordic.Business response

Nordic Energy has researched the circumstances of this complaint. Nordic attempted to contact the customer after receiving the complaint but was unable to speak to the customer, a voicemail was left. The customer called on 2/10/2022 and spoke to a Nordic customer service representative, per the customers request the cancellation process was started on this day. The main utility company accepted the drop and provided Nordic with an end date of on or around 3/03/2022.Nordic does have to supply the account until that date. The customer initially enrolled on 10/08/2020 with a door-to-door sales agent. The customer was billed at the correct rate described in the terms and conditions. Nordic believes it has researched and addressed the concerns expressed and acted according to the customers request. I am complaining on behalf of Sifa Uwilingiye, who does not speak English well and cannot read. On Feb. 24, 2022, people came to her door, told her they were with the gas company, and convinced her to sign a contract she could not read and did not understand. She was completely unaware she was agreeing to a 36-month contact with Nordic Energy. Under the terms of the contract, which were subsequently mailed to her, her rate is fixed for the first two months of the contract and then "the price will be a variable rate determined in the sole discretion of Nordic Energy Services, LLC. ... Nordic Energy's prices do not have a limit on variability." In my opinion, these terms are unconscionable, and when I translated them, ************************ was strongly opposed to this contract and said she had no intention to agree to those terms. In fact she was unaware at the time that she was signing any agreement with any gas company other than her existing gas company. According to the letter provided, she had only seven days from receiving the letter to cancel the contract with her service provider. As I only go to her home once per week to help her read her mail, the deadline had passed by the time I discovered what she had been tricked into signing.Business response

A man have knocked on my door and ask to see my Eversource ****, I thought he is people who were sent by Eversource and he provide a lower rate for electricity supply, I realize it by **** information and I asked Eversource they said nordic is not belongs to them. I wanna cancel it immediately and I called twice, but they still appear on my **** as a supplier. In addition, the rate they guarantee has changed this month without any information, and they didn't tell me on the contract the rate will change or how it will change at all, at the meantime they didn't end their service within the initial term. A few days ago I asked them to cancel it again and asked for a confirmation number, they give me a fake number, and the service still has not been canceled. I can't bear it, please cancel/stop the service from nordic energy as soon as possible.Business response

3/01/2022. Sales rep knocked at the door and asked to see my current gas/eletric ****. Signed me up the gas from his company. The overall experience was pretty overwhelming. Promised me lower prices than what I was getting. The more he went on, the more her seemed to pressure me to make the switch. During the entire process he had my phone in his possession. When it came to to switch he said youll get a call from this number asking if I left the residence. Just say yes. That alone was enough for me to start panicking. I felt at that Point I couldnt say no anymore considering he we sitting on my couch next to me. I just want the process to be reversed and to have my old provider resume control.Business response

I receive constant calls from Nordic Energy every day. They call me everyday and I keep denying them all. I am not, nor will I ever be, a Nordic Energy customer. Ive used JCP&L for years and Ive tried to block the number for Nordic Energy but they keep calling me from different locations and different numbers everyday. Theyre constantly harassing me. Im tired of it. Im not even a customer!Business response
