Today I picked up my 12 GA Shotgun , I was told that I need a CCW to pick up my weapon I had already paid for, I felt because I was black they racially profiled me. Why do you need a CCW to purchase a shotgun; you can legally open carry; I had a CCW they did a background check and made copy of my CCW to pick up my Shotgun, because I had already paid for it I went on with what they asked me, I felt they asked for a CCW because I was black , I wasn't buying a pistol I brought a Shotgun, I will never give them my business again, I wanted to support a Veteran owned business because I'm a Persian Gulf War Veteran who wanted to support another Veteran didn't realize I would get racially discriminated against.

Let's start this by dropping the race issue. That is inappropriate. For the last 45 years when you purchase a firearm from a Federal Firearm License holder you must complete a FBI NICS background check. This has always applied for handguns, rifles, SHOTGUNS, and receiver's. You were shocked when we handed you the 4473 form. I (*** - Owner) stepped over and explained. We asked for your Ohio Driver's license ( Mandatory per Federal Law) you said yes. We then asked if you have a CCW license. You said yes. We take everyone's ID'S and make a copy on out store policy/layaway sheet. You read it, signed and dated it. At no time did we say CCW was required. In the State of Ohio the FFL has the discretion to use the CCW instead of entering the information in the FBI's NICS website. That's why we asked for the CCW. We saved 25-45 minutes of your time waiting for the background check. I am still not sure why the color of your skin played any role in your transaction. If you recall the day before when you called, I spoke with you for mote Tha. 20 minutes. We had a great conversation about your Navy Career and My military career. I congratulated you on your recent retirement from being A Boiler Repair Mechanic. As you left the store you thanked us, at least 3 employees said goodbye. Again, how does the color of your skin make any of what happened racist?

If I misjudged the situation wrong I'm man enough to apologize, this the 1st firearm I brought in Ohio; I grew up in Detroit I used my Michigan CCW to buy a Pistol when I brought my shot guns in Michigan I only needed my DL's , If I was made aware that the CCW was being used in place of conducting the required background check or whatever I was prepared to do when you know you legit you have nothing to worry about. Again if I had known I would've came in with my CCW, When I Was Asked Do I Have One , My Response Was I Didn't Know I Needed One To Purchase A Shotgun, I Wasn't Avoiding The Paperwork To Do A Background Check , I Just Retired From The Federal Government was employed with the Federal Government I worked in Washington DC for the Federal Government, being asked for a CCW knowingly the law has changed made me to think race played a role, If I miss judged you or your business and that wasn't the case I Apologize
